Pre-season 2015
|
Normally about this time of year things start to get confirmed, what we hoping for? Asia trophy confirmed and we're not in that, something I'd love to have done (was in Ibiza)

The players are due to leave for the USA on the 5th of July however until the European spots are sorts, we could well be playing 2nd July then there are no fixed plans.

Haha imagine double dropping as we kicked off in Ibiza. Bit of me that.
Won't be going America but hopefully we nick a spot through the fair plays and will do all the aways.

Pretty Much what I did when we played the yids, gentry. Slight come down when Defoe scored, mind

Had a brief look at what the 1st qualifying round looked like this season to get an idea of where we might have to go.
First game would be July 2nd, madness, fun but madness
The biggest sides were Split Aderdeen Rosenborg IFK Gothenberg
Then you have the likes of;
Hibernians...................of Malta Aberystwyth Town Derry Crusaders Airbus UK Sligo Rover Bangor City Linfield
and so on

Portland would be fucking great. Went there last year. More brew pubs, and strip joints, than any other town in the states.

Personally I would rather have Airbus UK or similar
Twice I've seen us go out first time of asking.

Expensive to fly in July to Portland but I found a do able why for reasonable money by flying into Vancouver and sneaking across the boarder.

We're tottenham in Portland last year? They were charging nearly $115 dollars for some games. I think we'd do Aberdeen over 2 legs but I know what you mean.

There was rumors flying around that it would be Portland and Seattle, Seattle tickets are like gold dust I hear, every game a sell out
Still I'm sure West Ham would sort out an away allocation.........wouldn't they?

It would be but it's the same situation, you're paying top dollar to fly anywhere in the states in July really.
Vancouver is under £700

Unless we actually get in Europe, I can't see anything coming close to Germany last summer...

Re: Pre-season 2015

IF they do to the US I very much doubt they will go to Europe as well because of the short pre-season.
It will be 2 or 3 games in the states and then the normal League 1/2 sides, a Championship side and a middling European side at home.

Re: Pre-season 2015

Well it seems we might sneak into the Europa League through the Fair Play League.
Places are allocated to Europe's three fairest countries and that currently includes England, with us being the fairest team in the Premier League.
Ron Greenwood and John Lyall would be proud of that and it is surely proof we're not a long-ball team.
A Europa League place would mean the season starting on July 2, though at least it would mean no more pre-season friendlies at Stevenage and hopefully some nice continental trips.
Mind you, judging by how playing in the Europa League has affected Newcastle and Everton in recent seasons, perhaps we should start kicking a few people.
